Mary Nambusi, born September 25, 1992, was raised in a Muslim family. Her father initially married her mother as his first wife, giving them priority in his life. However, as he took on additional wives, the love, respect, and care he had shown Mary and her mother began to wane.
Mary’s father started mistreating her mother and became abusive towards Mary. To protect Mary from this violence, her mother decided to send her to live with her aunt, hoping she would find a safer and more nurturing environment.
Mary found solace in her aunt’s home, but her stay was tragically cut short when her aunt passed away from HIV. This loss forced Mary into an orphanage, where she was raised and educated until completing her Advanced level.
Despite the hardships of her childhood, Mary found her calling in helping vulnerable children in her community. Her charitable work led her to Charles, whom she met on the streets of Kampala. Sharing a common goal of supporting street children, they established Marles Children’s Foundation together.
Through the foundation, Mary and Charles are able to meet the essential needs of many children in their community, giving them a chance for a better life.
